Beets
Beets are a top-shaped root with maroon-red to golden-yellow colour. Baby beets are a miniature version of a regular beet. The bulb is tender. Beets do not require peeling before being consumed. The tops of the beet are typically what is eaten. Beetroot can be peeled, steamed, and then eaten warm with butter as a delicacy; cooked, pickled, and then eaten cold as a condiment; or peeled, shredded raw, and then eaten as a salad.
