
The blood orange is a kind of orange with a deep scarlet color on the inside. The skin pigment on the outside is also darker. They usually mature mid-season and are deeply juicy and sweet flavoured. These kinds of oranges are typically smaller than an average orange.
Handling
» Follow good rotation practices, first shipments received should be used first.
» Do not drop, oranges will bruise easily.
» Expect to rotate oranges within 5 days of delivery.
» Never “refill” or reuse citrus cartons.
» Avoid placing the case or raw product on non-sanitized kitchen counter tops to help prevent the potential for cross contamination.
Preparation
» Prepare as needed. Try not to use product from the previous day.
» Wash thoroughly in whole form before cutting.
» Always use clean and sanitized cutting equipment.
» For maximum juice yield, allow fruit to reach room temperature before squeezing.
» Store prepared product in the refridgerator.
