Oregano
Oregano is a perennial herb with creeping roots, 30-90 cm high, branched woody stems and opposite, petiolate and hairy leaves. The flowers are pale purple and the flowering period extends from late June to August. Each flower produces four small structures. The foliage is dotted with small glands containing the volatile oil, which gives the plant aroma and colour.
Storage
» Store immediately, covered in a sealed original container, in the warmest part of the walk-in cooler. Chilling injury can occur (blackening, shriveling and wilting) from storing unprotected oregano past 3 days in the walk-in.
» Store in the original sealed bag away from drafts from the cooler fan. Oregano is extremely susceptible to dehydration.
» For maximum shelf life & quality. Keep in a sealed lexan or thick plastic container in the warmest area of the cooler.
Handling
» Follow good rotation practices, first shipments received should be used first.
