Plums

Plums belong to the Prunus genus of plants and are relatives of the peach, nectarine and almond. They are all considered "drupes," fruits that have a hard stone pit surrounding their seeds. When plums are dried, they become the fruit we know as prunes.

Storage
» Plums should be stored in the refrigerator.
» Do not stack product on top of the cases or cause the nectarine to be crushed.
» Remove any plums with decay, damage or that begin to mold immediately.

Handling
» Follow good rotation practices, first shipments received should be used first.
» Fresh plums have an expected shelf life of about 5 days. Plan to rotate frequently to maintain maximum quality.
» Avoid placing plums on non-sanitized kitchen counter tops to help prevent the potential for cross contamination.
» Always limit the time the product is out of refrigeration.

Preparation
» Prep fresh daily as needed. Wash only immediately before use
